Most recently, Sean served as Assistant Commissioner of Human Resources for the New York Department of Housing Preservation and Development. Sean spent four years as Assistant Commissioner, Human Resources, for the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), where he oversaw critical areas of the agency`s equity, diversity and inclusion efforts. At HPD, Sean developed an employee retention plan, an internal training program and a promotion selection process that reduced overall turnover.
He co-founded a diversity hiring initiative to share a talent pool among four municipal agencies. Sean has dedicated most of his career to the public and non-profit sector, joining Children`s Home & Aid of the Legal Aid Society (LAS) in New York City. As Director of Human Resources at LAS, Sean worked with the leadership team and unions to maintain and reaffirm the organization`s commitment as a progressive, anti-racist and inclusive workplace of choice. Sean was responsible for redesigning LAS`s human resources approach, culture, structure and policies, supporting and guiding the work of 2,200 employees across 29 locations. His leadership has been instrumental in securing LAS as a premier home for those advocating for equal justice in New York.
